Baseball Bloggers Alliance Awards
The BBBA is a collection of baseball bloggers with the general purpose of collaborating on projects or being a reference for each other, especially in terms of promoting on social media like Twitter, Facebook and Podcasting.
Members of the alliance vote each year for outstanding baseball blog of their choice in several categories.
SB Nations Awards
SB Nation (originally known as SportsBlogs Nation) is a blogging network founded by Tyler Bleszinski and Markos Moulitsas in 2005. The blog covers sports franchises on a national scale, including all Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, National Football League, and National Hockey League teams, college and soccer teams, mixed martial arts, and professional wrestling,
The baseball bloggers of SB Nation vote for outstanding players following a regular season. There are two votes per blog as well as two voters per MLB team for the official awards.
The Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) Awards
This is a professional association for baseball journalists who write for newspapers, magazines, and websites. The BBWAA annually votes on candidates for the National Baseball Hall of Fame. In addition, the BBWAA is responsible for voting on several annual awards in each major league, including the Most Valuable Player Award, Cy Young Award, Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award, and Manager of the Year Award.
Since 2000, the BBWAA has voted to select the outstanding hitter of the year, after taking over the Edgar Martínez Award.
BBWAA Career Excellence Award
This is the highest award given by the BBWAA to outstanding individuals that have contributed to the growth of baseball in the US. It is awarded annually for “meritorious contributions to baseball writing”. Recipients are not considered members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Sporting News MLB Player of the Year Award
The Sporting News is a respected magazine/newspaper in sports journalism and the most respected source of baseball statistics. The organization organizes an award given to the person who has the most outstanding season regardless of position or league.
World Series Most Valuable Player Award
This award, started in 1955 by the editors of Sport Magazine, votes for the most valuable player of the season. The award is now voted on during the final game of the World Series by a committee of reporters and officials in attendance. The result is announced at the game and comes with a new car by Chevy.
